Autonomous Solutions, Inc. (ASI) has announced the formation of ASI Construction, a new business unit focused on automating heavy construction equipment. The initiative, launched in collaboration with SoftBank Group Corp., builds on ASI’s existing work in off-road autonomy and aims to address rising construction demands and workforce shortages. ASI’s Mobius® platform, already used in sectors like mining and agriculture, will support the operation of autonomous construction fleets in the United States.
The company says this development follows its exit from the mining sector, marked by the sale of ASI Mining to Epiroc. With a history of partnerships with OEMs such as John Deere and CNH, ASI plans to expand its autonomy solutions into heavy construction alongside other sectors including agriculture, logistics and landscaping.
“Especially in low to no population areas, automation of construction equipment is critical to address the chasm between ever-growing demands for heavy construction projects and the dwindling labor supply,” said ASI CEO Mel Torrie.
