Intelsat has completed a vehicle connectivity test in collaboration with Cubic³, demonstrating integration between its satellite network and Cubic³’s software platform. The test, which focused on commercial land mobile applications using Intelsat's FlexMove Fleet product and the Cubic³ Cloud interface, is part of a broader effort to develop seamless global connectivity for vehicles.
The companies say the collaboration aims to support connected vehicle use cases across industries where operations frequently take place beyond the reach of terrestrial networks. The planned solution combines geostationary satellite coverage with terrestrial cellular networks, with future plans to incorporate low Earth orbit satellites to enable services such as software updates, diagnostics, and high-definition mapping for off-road and heavy-duty vehicles.
“Our Memorandum of Understanding and successful test brings us closer to our vision of truly ubiquitous connectivity. By combining Intelsat's satellite expertise with Cubic³'s innovative connectivity platform, we're creating solutions that will keep vehicles connected anywhere in the world, enabling critical functions from broadband connectivity, diagnostics to eventually supporting autonomous driving capabilities,” said Bruno Fromont, Intelsat Chief Technology Officer.
