Metso’s Board of Directors has appointed Sami Takaluoma as the company’s new President and CEO, effective November 1, 2024. Takaluoma, who has been with Metso since 1997, currently leads the Services business area and has been part of the Leadership Team since 2017. His experience and knowledge of Metso’s operations and customer industries were key factors in the Board's selection process. Outgoing CEO Pekka Vauramo will support the leadership transition through the end of 2024.
Kari Stadigh, Chair of Metso’s Board, noted Takaluoma’s role in expanding Metso’s services and consumables businesses, particularly following the merger with Outotec. Stadigh highlighted the Board's confidence in Takaluoma's ability to guide Metso into its next growth phase. The Board also expressed appreciation for Vauramo’s contributions, citing his impact on Metso’s corporate culture, customer satisfaction and profitability.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to lead Metso. With nearly three decades at the company, I have seen firsthand our potential and am excited to work with our team to achieve new levels of industry leadership.” said Takaluoma.
