Orica says it has received CE certification for its fully lead-free electronic detonators, clearing the way for their use in Europe. The certification covers the company’s eDev™ II Neo, uni tronic™ 600 Neo, and i-kon™ III Neo systems, and follows assessment by Germany’s Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM).
The company states that removing lead from its detonators eliminates a substance classified as a Substance of Very High Concern (SVHC) under EU REACH regulation. Orica is now carrying out a programme of field trials ahead of the full market release.
“We are proud to have achieved CE certification for our lead-free electronic detonators, a testament to our commitment to environmental responsibility and operational excellence. We are now focused on completing the final validation steps, ensuring our customers receive a product that meets the high standards of safety, performance, and sustainability.” said James Bonnor, Group Executive and EMEA President.
