Junttan has introduced the DR5, its first next-generation drilling rig powered by a Volvo Penta engine. The company says the move marks the start of a new product line designed for modern foundation work, with the DR5 featuring the Volvo Penta TAD1385VE – a compact Stage V / Tier 4 Final engine rated at 405 kW. The partnership with Volvo Penta follows Junttan’s search for an engine platform offering scalability, extended service intervals, and global support coverage.
Junttan adds that all upcoming models in its next-generation lineup, including pile driving rigs and hydraulic power packs, will incorporate Volvo Penta powertrains. The DR5 rig, which also supports renewable HVO fuel and features a 20-tonne weight reduction compared to its predecessor, is part of a broader effort to improve efficiency and reduce operating costs across its equipment range.
“This collaboration shows how Volvo Penta supports OEMs with flexible, dependable solutions. We aim to be a responsive, long-term partner that grows with our customers.” said Pasi Järvelä, area sales manager at Volvo Penta.
