Sika has acquired Awazil Al Khaleej Industrial Co. (“Gulf Seal”), a Riyadh-based manufacturer of bituminous waterproofing membranes. The move broadens Sika’s presence in Saudi Arabia and the wider GCC, where construction activity and demand for waterproofing solutions continue to increase. Gulf Seal has supplied the region for more than two decades, offering a portfolio of membrane systems used across major building and infrastructure projects. Its range aligns with Sika’s existing waterproofing technologies, creating a more comprehensive product offering for distributors and contractors.
The acquisition brings established production capacity in Riyadh and export channels into neighbouring markets. These provide Sika with a stronger platform as the region advances large-scale development programmes associated with Vision 2030, FIFA World Cup 2034 preparations and wider urban expansion. The company indicates that the integration will support cross-selling opportunities and extend market reach through an enlarged distribution network.
“With the acquisition of Gulf Seal, we are taking a significant step forward in expanding our waterproofing portfolio and strengthening our presence in one of the most dynamic construction markets in the world. Gulf Seal’s well-established market position and local production capacities, combined with Sika’s wide portfolio and global expertise, will create exciting opportunities for further growth in the GCC region. We look forward to welcoming the Gulf Seal team to the Sika family,” said Christoph Ganz, Regional Manager EMEA.
