JCB’s move into fully electric compact excavators has gained further traction with the adoption of the 8008E CTS by Wetherby Tool & Plant Hire, making it one of the first hirers in the UK to add the model to its fleet. The micro excavator forms part of JCB’s E-TECH line-up and is designed as an electric alternative to the conventional 8008 CTS, retaining the same structure and control layout while switching to a battery-powered driveline already used across other JCB electric products. Its positioning targets applications where zero-emission operation and low noise are required, particularly indoor or restricted-access environments.
Key features include a 9.9kWh battery, an extending undercarriage for stability, internal hose routing, and compatibility with 110V and 230V charging, while its sub-one-tonne operating weight supports easy transport by van or pick-up.
“We bought the JCB 8008E CTS after receiving a number of enquiries from customers about electric diggers for working inside buildings. We’ve been very impressed with the new model,” said owner Scott Fletcher.
