Clariant has announced a strategic joint venture with FUHUA to develop phosphorus-based, non-halogenated flame retardants. Pending regulatory approval, the partnership will focus on creating solutions tailored for sectors such as building and construction, automotive, and electronics. This collaboration reflects efforts to meet tightening regulatory requirements while supporting customer sustainability goals. It builds on Clariant’s recent investments in China, including expansions at the Daya Bay and Cangzhou facilities that enhance production capacity for flame retardants and stabilizers.
The joint venture combines Clariant’s expertise in specialty chemicals with FUHUA’s capabilities in integrated chemical manufacturing. This alignment aims to provide innovative flame retardant products that maintain or improve performance and comply with evolving global regulations. Clariant expects the initiative to address the increasing demand for sustainable and effective flame retardant technologies in critical markets.
"This strategic cooperation demonstrates Clariant's targeted approach to innovation in the additives sector, consistently delivering solutions that address emerging challenges. The new partnership with FUHUA represents another important step in developing products that align with Clariant's commitment to innovation, sustainability, regulatory compliance, and performance excellence." said Manuel Mueller, Head of Strategy & Innovation.
