IFEMA MADRID has awarded the contract for the construction of the new Madring Formula 1 circuit to a consortium formed by ACCIONA (60%) and Eiffage Construcción (40%). The €83.2 million contract covers the design and execution of the 5,400-meter track in northeast Madrid, which the Spanish capital plans to use from 2026. The project includes both permanent infrastructure and temporary race structures, as well as the restoration of public roads after each event.
Work is scheduled to begin in April and complete by May 2026. Of the full circuit length, 4,100 meters will be located on IFEMA MADRID property and 1,300 meters on public roads. The project has been designed to meet FIA Grade 1 standards, while ensuring minimal disruption to local traffic and IFEMA’s operations. Sustainability measures include the reuse of nearly 700,000m³ of excavated earth, HVO biofuel for construction machinery, and renewable electricity for on-site facilities.
ACCIONA highlights its experience in complex infrastructure projects such as the Motorland Aragón race track and Nokian Tyres’ testing centre in Toledo. Eiffage Construcción notes its previous work on circuits in Jerez and Carmona, and says it will supply materials from its asphalt plant located 12 km from the site.
