Illinois Firm Chooses Komatsu’s Hybrid Excavator

Petersburg Plumbing and Excavating is helping create a new mega sports park in Springfield, Illinois. They’re laying pipe and storm and sanitary sewers for Scheels Sports Park at Legacy Point, which will include baseball fields, multipurpose fields, stadium, indoor sports dome, food truck bar, pavilion and more. The company has invested in a fleet of Komatsu machines via dealer Roland Machinery Company, but they say on this job it’s the hybrid HB365LC-3 excavator that’s drawing the cheers.

It’s the firm’s first hybrid excavator and they’re impressed, citing its fast swing, plenty of power, good response and fuel economy. Not to mention its long arm, ideal for the 20-ft. set in required for the job. They also appreciate their fleet’s Komtrax system, which alerts their team and dealer of issues so they can be mitigated quickly.

The Komatsu HB365LC-3 hybrid excavator is a fourth-generation high-performance excavator and is powered by a Tier IV Final engine and Komatsu hybrid electrical swing system. This combination increases productivity and promotes carbon reduction, state Komatsu.
