Komatsu Enhances Efficiency with New Excavators

Komatsu has introduced two new models in its 21–24 ton hydraulic excavator range, the PC220LC-12 and PC220LCi-12. Both are designed for residential and commercial construction, offering enhanced operator comfort, improved fuel efficiency, and reduced maintenance requirements. The PC220LCi-12 features Komatsu’s IMC 3.0 intelligent machine control system, including factory-integrated 3D boundary control to improve operational efficiency and safety across worksites.

These excavators offer a larger cab with greater visibility, up to a 20% improvement in fuel efficiency, and performance upgrades including increased lifting capacity and digging force. Operator convenience is further enhanced with a personalized ID system, ergonomic controls, and safety features such as rollover avoidance alerts and 360° camera systems.

“We’ve built these excavators for the ones who need to get it done on every shift. That was the thinking behind the design of these next-generation machines — to empower operators to perform at their very best, which translates into greater productivity on the jobsite.” said Peter Robson, Senior Director, Product and Service at Komatsu.
