Bobcat has expanded its Machine IQ telematics platform with the addition of a new Remote Engine Disable/Enable feature for customers in Europe. Accessible through the Machine IQ app or Owner Portal, the feature allows operators to remotely enable or disable their machine’s engine. It aims to deter theft, aid in machine recovery and enhance security measures for connected Bobcat equipment, including skid-steer loaders, compact track loaders, mini-excavators and compact wheel loaders.
This update marks the platform's first two-way communication capability, enabling users to send commands to and receive data from their machines. Available with a Premium Machine IQ subscription, Remote Engine Disable/Enable allows authorized users to track activity and execute commands with ease. The feature also supports operational efficiency and maintenance planning by integrating with the broader Machine IQ system, which provides insights into machine health, idle times and fuel consumption.
“Enabling advanced theft deterrence provides critical peace of mind for our Machine IQ users, and Remote Engine Disable/Enable allows our European customers to protect their equipment and allow only authorized usage. This feature also demonstrates our ability to interact with machines via two-way communication using telematics. Today marks another major milestone for what Bobcat continues to do – to empower our customers to accomplish more.” said Tomas Plechaty, Machine IQ Senior Program Manager at Bobcat EMEA.
