HARDOX® Wear Plate Marks 50 Years with Emission-Free Option


SSAB is marking 50 years of its Hardox® wear plate with the introduction of Hardox® 450 made using SSAB Zero™, an emission-free steel. Produced from recycled materials using fossil-free electricity and biogas, the new steel is designed to reduce carbon emissions during production while retaining the performance characteristics of Hardox® 450.

Launched in 1974, Hardox® wear plate has become known for its durability and versatility in demanding applications. Over the years, the product range has expanded to include specialized grades like Hardox® 500 Tuf and Hardox® Extreme, addressing diverse industrial challenges. The addition of an emission-free version is part of SSAB’s commitment to sustainable steelmaking.
