Siemens Smart Infrastructure has entered a collaboration with Microsoft aimed at improving interoperability in digital building systems. The partnership links Siemens' Building X platform with Microsoft’s Azure IoT Operations, providing users with streamlined access to IoT-based data for enhanced operational efficiency and sustainability across commercial buildings and infrastructure.
The integration is based on established open standards such as W3C Thing Descriptions and OPC UA PubSub. According to the companies, this standards-based approach could reduce integration efforts by up to 80 percent and give enterprise users more flexibility in designing their IoT architecture—free from vendor lock-in.
“This collaboration with Microsoft reflects our shared vision of enabling customers to harness the full potential of IoT through open standards and interoperability,” said Susanne Seitz, CEO, Siemens Smart Infrastructure Buildings.
