Siemens - India's Most Ambitious Rail Project Yet

In the midst of the Himalayas, a new mobility story unfolds. Siemens, jointly with IRCON and Indian Railways, has electrified the 42 km route from Dharam to Banihal in a record time of 16 months, including India's longest rail tunnel at an elevation of 1700 meters. Driven by Siemens' SICAT-SR technology, this is India's first Rigid Overhead Catenary system in mainline railways—specifically designed for tough terrain, tunnels, and high-altitude performance.
