ABB Introduces ACS8080 Medium Voltage Drive

ABB has unveiled the ACS8080, a new medium voltage air-cooled drive designed to enhance industrial performance. The drive achieves up to 98% efficiency, aiming to optimize overall system performance while reducing harmonic distortions by approximately 50%. Its motor control technology, MP3C, combines energy savings with durability, supporting extended equipment lifespans.

The ACS8080 features a modular design for flexible integration across industries, including retrofits and new applications. It includes advanced digital capabilities, such as the Crealizer™ platform for tailored programming and enhanced diagnostics enabling up to 10 times faster failure detection. Safety and protection systems are also embedded, addressing operational hazards and cybersecurity concerns.

“We continue to evolve by integrating clean, adaptable designs, stepping up testing capabilities, and embedding the latest digital technologies. This product reflects our commitment to advancing reliability, performance, and flexibility to help industries operate leaner and cleaner.” said Chris Poynter, President of Systems Drives Division at ABB Motion.
