BASF Expands European Portfolio for Concrete Admixtures

BASF has introduced Pluriol® A 2400 I to its range of reactive polyethylene glycols (PEGs) for use in polycarboxylate ethers (PCE), a key component in concrete superplasticizers. The product, now available to the European construction market, is an isoprenol-PEG (iPEG) designed to support the development of third-generation superplasticizers with improved flow and durability performance.

Pluriol® A 2400 I is produced through a backward-integrated manufacturing process and sourced locally, which is intended to provide greater supply security and help reduce CO₂ emissions. Beyond concrete admixtures, BASF notes that IPEGs can also be used in dispersants for inorganic pigments.

“As the only European supplier, we provide our customers with reliable delivery and raw material independence through a backward-integrated manufacturing process for Pluriol® A 2400 I, while simultaneously contributing to the reduction of CO₂ emissions through local sourcing,” said Jordi Tormo, Vice President Business Management Industrial Formulators.
