Liebherr cranes are instrumental in the ongoing replacement and widening of the Rader High Bridge on Germany’s A7 motorway. A fleet of 18 Liebherr cranes, including fast-erecting models and flat-top cranes, is facilitating the complex lifting operations required for the construction of new bridge piers. Some cranes have been assembled directly in the water, demonstrating the adaptability of Liebherr equipment in challenging conditions.
The project benefits from the support of Liebherr’s Tower Crane Solutions (TCS) department, which has provided precise planning and specialized equipment. The cranes, including the 250-tonne LR 1250 crawler crane, have been strategically positioned on floating platforms to handle demanding lifts. Hydraulic climbing equipment enables the cranes to achieve the necessary hook heights, ensuring they meet the project’s specific requirements.
The Rader High Bridge project, which began in late 2023, is progressing in phases, with the first section of the new bridge expected to open in 2026. Liebherr’s cranes are designed to operate effectively in the site’s challenging conditions, contributing to the efficient execution of this significant infrastructure development.
