A Hitachi Premium Rental compact electric excavator, the ZE85, has been used by J. van Uijthoven & Zn BV in a government-funded town centre regeneration project near Eindhoven, The Netherlands. The 8.5-tonne machine was selected for its compact size, low weight, and ability to operate in confined spaces, supporting groundworks, sewerage, and utility pipe installation. The rental arrangement was made through Hitachi’s local dealer network, reflecting growing demand for zero-emission equipment suitable for urban and environmentally sensitive areas.
In addition to the ZE85, J. van Uijthoven & Zn BV rented a larger ZE135 electric excavator for a sewer replacement project. The company’s wider Hitachi fleet also includes various diesel and wheeled models, with electric options used to meet government emission requirements. Hitachi’s Premium Rental programme offers machines from one to 50 tonnes, including electric models between five and 15 tonnes, available for short- or long-term hire.
