Hitachi Construction Equipment is playing a central role in the M27 Junction 10 improvement scheme near Fareham, Southern England, where a selection of Zaxis-7 excavators is being used by sub-contractor CP Groundworks Ltd. The five- to 22-tonne machines are engaged in diverse civil engineering tasks, including earthworks, drainage, kerbing and ducting. This key highways infrastructure project supports the development of Welborne Garden Village and involves upgrading the motorway junction with a new underpass, three slip roads, and a dual carriageway connecting the junction to the existing road network.
The equipment has been supplied through Synergy Hire, enabling CP Groundworks to rent larger Hitachi machines and reduce maintenance burdens. Flexible servicing schedules, including weekend maintenance, rapid response times and reliable technical support, have helped maintain productivity on this time-critical scheme. Hitachi’s excavator models on site include the ZX48U-6 mini excavator, ZX95USB-7, ZX150W-7 wheeled excavator, and zero-tail swing ZX135US-7 and ZX225USLC-7, chosen to meet the range of site requirements.
